A volunteer group connecting flight schools, instructors, air traffic control, airport and city personnel, and other airspace users to improve aviation safety in Arizona.
The Arizona Flight Training Workgroup is composed of volunteers seeking to improve aviation safety in Arizona. Many participants manage flight schools, but air traffic controllers, city and airport personnel, pilots, instructors, and other interested people are encouraged to participate.
AFTW was formed in June 2002. Its strength comes from bringing different operators and perspectives together before local concerns become safety events.
AFTW provides information and recommended best practices to improve pilot awareness and decision-making, with the ultimate goal of reducing accidents, incidents, and pilot deviations by making an ongoing effort to:
Everyone interested in improving flight-training safety in Arizona is invited to attend. Meetings are held through Zoom on the second Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. every other month, during odd-numbered months.
